Chibule Preschool Support

Imagine as a Preschool aged child, having to walk six kilometers to reach your school…

Chibule Village lies approximately thirty kilometers east of Livingstone and fourteen kilometers west of Mukuni Village. A mere 221 people and sixty-four households comprise Chibule Village.

In 2019 the Livingstone Motorbike Community funded the construction of a one room schoolhouse, in the impoverished village of Chibule, in order to provide the village’s children with access to education. Before this school was erected, in order to receive education, the students from Chibule village had to journey six kilometers through the bush to reach the nearest school building.

The long distance from their home to the school was too far for the smaller children to walk and also unsafe for the students to walk alone. While the villagers are extremely thankful to the Livingstone Motorbike Community for building them a school, they are unable to afford to pay a teacher to teach at the school. In January 2020, after seeing the school, talking with the villagers, and meeting with the headman, we decided to incorporate this project into our organization by financially and educationally supporting Chibule Preschool. The community itself provides for half of the teacher’s salary and school upkeep. Free Haven then supports the additional half. We love how this program is a partnership! We also donate school supplies for the students and teaching materials for the teacher.

Next year, in addition to preschool, we are hoping to add a grade one class to the school. The preschoolers would attend class in the mornings and then the grade one pupils attend class in the afternoons.

To continue our support, we need $1,067 for the entire year. Become a sponsor with $89 monthly or contribute any amount.

Together, let's empower Chibule Pre-School and make a lasting impact.
