Get to know Kamana

 

Kamana is 13-yrs-old and will be entering Grade 8 in 2027 at Kazungula Boarding School. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite subject is Math. Kamana has been in our Sponsorship Program since she entered Grade 1 in 2020. She is very intelligent and excited to get accepted into boarding school.

Kamana lives with her parents and 3 siblings, 2 of whom are also in our program. Kamana’s parents never finished school are unemployed due to their lack of education. They want to give their children a better life than they had and are doing their best to support their children, but they are unable to pay for their schooling.

  • Poverty In Zambia

    Unlike most places in the developed world, education is not free to the public in Zambia. All students are required to pay school fees as well as purchase a school uniform, shoes, and other supplies, which many families cannot afford. In times of crisis, impoverished children are especially vulnerable and face several challenges. Girls who are unable to attend school have a high risk of becoming pregnant or being forced into marriage, whereas boys have a high risk of underage drinking, smoking, and becoming involved in petty crime. By sponsoring a child you are giving them access to life-changing programs and support.
